I just Want to Go Back Home

I just Want to Go Back Home

I just want to go back home
And spend the rest of my time
With woodsmoke rising at the break of dawn
So won’t you come along
And tell me that you’ll be mine
Oh I just want to go back home

I left the place where I was born
To find what I was looking for
Thinking I could make it all alone
But slippery streets just don’t compare
To homemade pie and country air
Oh I just want to go back home

Just the thought of waking up
To biscuits and a coffee cup
And someone there that I could call my own
Won’t you come along with me
And take our part in the history
Oh I just want to go back home

Just to walk among the trees
Work the land and feel the breeze
I’d trade most anything I’ve ever known
I could never plan again
To leave this place I’m living in
Oh it’s so good to be back home
